Video: Shaikh AbuBaker Recieves the Holy Hair

Just to share the video of the event that I mentioned in the previous post. The Original video that belongs to Badar Publication, Kozhikkode, India  has been edited and I have added English subtitles. Thanks for watching!

Happy New Year!

First of all, I would like to wish you a very happy and prosperous new year. May Allah pour upon all of us His blessings and bounties and forgive all of our wrongdoings and misconduct. Aameen

The Holy Quran describes the Sun and the Moon as means of reckoning for human being. Although Islam advises to use lunar calendar for all its religious applications, it also endorses the solar method in the calculation of the fourth dimension. For instance, the Holy Quran used both solar and lunar calendar to describe a historical episode. According to that account the Hibernation of The Seven Sleepers’ in the Cave lasted 300 solar years that is 309 years in the lunar calendar.

“They did stay in their Cave for three hundred years and add nine.” (Surat al-Kahf, 25)
We see here wonderful description of the Holy Qur’an as it does not directly state 309 years but 300 plus 9!

A solar year consists 365.242217 days while a lunar year 354.36768 days, having a difference of 10.874537 days. Thus 100 solar years is equivalent to 103 lunar years. So to determine the equivalent of 300 solar years in terms of lunar years, we need to add on 9 more years – just as in the verse!!!The precision in the description of difference between these two methods can be cited as a clear proof for its authenticity and a miracle of the beloved messenger (PBUH).

Here, you can see my previous post on the importance of lunar calendar https://baqavi.wordpress.com/2010/08/02/moon-sighting-and-lunar-calendar/

Special Prayers

Shikh Abdul Hameed Muhammed Ali Al Quds , a famous Shafi Scholar and Formerly  Teacher at the Holy Mosque ,Makkah,  mentions in his book ‘ Kanz Najhi wa Suroor’ special prayers at the beginning of a new year.  It reads as follows:

May Allah protect all of us from Satan and his assistants and help all of us against the evil inspiring selves.  May Allah make each day of the year closer to Him than the day before and join us with His closest servants. Aameen

Back(!) To School and Dar Al Mustafa

Educational institutions in the UAE are once again in full swing. Traditional Islamic Institutions generally re-open after Ramadan and other institutions also followed suit this year after an extended summer vacation.

Shopping malls and street ads celebrate the beginning of the new academic year. Thousands of lovely little feet lead to the sanctum sanatorium of Knowledge frowning at the slogan back? to school! They can’t help crying to feel humble in front of the immensity and greatness of the Knowledge that we adults are often unaware of. We have much to learn from the kids as William Wordsworth said “Child is the Teacher of Man!!

The season proclaims the importance of Knowledge. Cutthroat Competition of the modern world seeks shortcuts to richness and the whole Education arena is hijacked. Knowledge is sought for the sake of money and the education is reduced to a profit motive business .

But there are rays of hope! Educational institutes that uphold the real value of Knowledge are the light houses for the whole world. They produce torchbearers of Knowledge as it is the Light from the Almighty Allah!

Dar ul Mustafa in Tarim, Yemen is one of such institutions. Here you see some conditions for admission into the Institution. It may look odd to some but draws the difference among its counterparts as so-called centers of education.

  • The Intention to be purely for the sake of God Almighty, his satisfaction and being close to him. Give up targeting worldly possessions and looking for others belongings.
  • To be humble to learn from the beginning – in terms of his level – to learn from every teacher and to be benefited from  small and big disregarding  wealth, superiority  and status in people’s hearts.
  • Courtesy and good conduct with the teachers, students and others. Overlooking their flaws but looking at their Goodness.  Whoever works on others’ faults will lose and fail.
  • To be so devoted to his ambition that he does not pay any attention to a company or a friend which is not helpful in achieving his targets in education and purification
  • To be tolerant, to overcome anger and at the time of angriness to get himself disciplined and poised .
  • To hold the intention to engage after graduation in the service of Islam and Muslims , to call to The God and in educating people.

Habeeb Ali Jifri Speaks on Niqab (Face Veil)

“Sister asks about the face veil for Muslim women. Should they cover their face or not? This question has been frequently asked and people have gone to the two extreme sides.

One Party claimed it is not Islamic at all, it is bigotry and it is only a native custom of a few countries. This is one extreme and it disregards many statements about the ladies of Ansar that  after the revelation of the verses of Hijab they couldn’t be recognized whether they are coming in or going away due to the thickness of their veil

The other party says the scholars who say it is permissible to unveil are materialistic and scholars of the Court who wants to deceive and to get complements. It is another baseless and extremist view because there are texts establishing the permissibility provided that certain conditions are met.

The Middle Way that suits to the greatness of our religion is the consensus among scholars that; if a woman has concerns over her safety due to her beautification on the face or being exceedingly beautiful or being in a bad location she should cover her face so that she would not endanger herself and others. In other cases, without any safety concerns, or in a case where the veil itself poses concerns, she can unveil her face while there is no beautification.

After this provision, we know out of pragmatism,  in a country where covering face is a customary, unveiling exposes her to troubles as people are not accustomed to see women’s faces in public. If a woman shows her face off, even without  beautification, she draws people’s gazes towards her. But in countries where ladies are used to unveil their faces, if she opts to cover her face  it is the ideal option in following the Beloved Prophet (SAWS), However,  It is also permissible for her to reveal her face if there is no beautification on her face that draws people’s attention. Meanwhile Modesty is an integral part of Believing. Allaah knows best.”

French ban on face veil

It is really undemocratic to curb on one’s freedom to cover one’s body. In a country of around 62 million, struggling with serious economic and racial issues, the rulers are worried about some ‘country’ girls who are too shy to show their face in “public” places that includes “private businesses and entertainment venues.”!!!

It is strange that the president Mr. Nicola Sarkozy feels offended to see a girl not ready to show off her skin. An obvious instance of damned intolerance widely growing at the cost of much celebrated values of Liberté, égalité and fraternité.  One of those 1900 girls has this to say to the regime:

“You look at me and call me oppressed,
Simply because of the way I’m dressed,

You know me not for what’s inside,
You judge the clothing I wear with pride,

Man doesn’t tell me to dress this way,
It’s the law from God that I obey,

Oppressed is something I’m truly NOT,
For liberation is what I’ve got”

Islam doesn’t ask women to cover their face when it is needed to be uncovered.  However, it recommends the veil over security concerns.

Recent Letters to the Gulf News, Dubai

I am pleased to share with you my two letters to the Gulf News Daily published from Dubai, UAE. They are abridged versions of two earlier posts in this blog.

The way to unity

The biggest threat to Islam is neither secularism nor Christianity but preachers like Dr Zakir Naik, who argue without knowing the basic principles of the religion (“Secularism a threat to Islam, Naik says”, Gulf News, August 23). According to him, “if you know just one word” you preach and no further qualification is needed. Strangely enough he suggests the sole solution for Muslim unity is to go directly to the Quran and the Hadith. The way to unity is to follow the rich traditions of Islam. The Quran and Sunnah need sound and profound scholarship to understand and interpret correctly. It is shocking to hear him say: “Every Muslim should be a terrorist to the anti-Muslim racist.” It is not Islamic at all and goes against the teachings of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). None should be terrified to see a Muslim. But everyone should be captivated and attracted by their noble character. Islam has spread across the world by the sublime qualities of its followers and not by hateful words or dreadful swords. http://gulfnews.com/opinions/letters/letters-august-28-2010-1.673945

No compromise
Do we Muslims need a mosque at Ground Zero (“Obama at the centre of cultural clash over Ground Zero mosque”, Gulf News, August 15)? I personally don’t think so, especially if people out there are not comfortable with the concept. We can build mosques anywhere but without compromising the feelings of our neighbours! We need peace and tranquillity for all. That is what this great religion is all about. What Muslims would like to erect at ground zero is a suitable memorial in honour of the innocent victims of the September 11 attack. A 13-storey building named Cordoba House is said to have public facilities for athletics, arts, performances, lectures series, forums and weddings, as well as a prayer space, which makes opponents frown at! It has got support from New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the US President Barack Obama. With all its political and moral support, we need to maintain that it should not irk the people of the land and we hold high the fact that there should be no compromise on peace.http://gulfnews.com/opinions/letters/latters-august-22-2010-1.671273

A Mosque at Ground Zero?

Major two broadcasters in the US i.e. CBS and NBC refused to air the notorious hate ad which is based on zero ground against the so called ‘mosque at ground zero’!

Do we Muslims need a mosque at Ground Zero? I personally feel No, if the people out there are not comfortable with it. We can build mosque anywhere but without compromising the feelings of our neighbors! We need peace and tranquility for all. That is what this great religion is all about.

At the time of  Hudaibiyya treaty the Beloved Messenger set a sublime model for dealing with the people who are not aligned with our ideology. Almost every article of the pact prima facie went against Muslims and they had to suffer greatly to cope with. The prophet and His followers showed unmatched tolerance for the sake of Peace.

Islamic History portraits the Great Caliph Umar (May Allah Bless him) declining to perform his prayers inside the church despite his Christian counterpart’s insistence just because that public might take it wrongly and cost peace sometime in the future!

But what Muslims would like to erect there at ground zero is a suitable memorial in honor of 3000 innocent victims of 9/11 attack. 13 story building named as Cordoba House is said to be having public facilities for athletics, arts, performances, lectures series, forums and weddings, as well as a prayer space which makes opponents frown at! It is said that “The Islamic center is supported by most politicians in Manhattan and by religious leaders of many faiths. It has the support of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, now the state’s Democratic gubernatorial candidate”. See here what the Mayor has said on the issue. http://sify.com/news/new-york-mayor-defends-proposed-ground-zero-mosque-news-international-kf4u4ddaiic.html

With all its political and moral support, we need to maintain that it should not cause any irk to the people of the area and we hold high that No Compromise on Comprehensive Peace. Peace be upon You!

On the Month of Rajab

It has been mentioned by Abu’ Nu’aim in ‘Hilya’ from Anas Ibn Malik (Allah be pleased with him) he said, that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) used to make the following dua, when the month of Rajab came in:

‘Allahuma Barik lana fi Rajaba wa Sha’bana wa ballighna Ramadhan’ (O Allah Bless us in Rajab and Sha’ban and Bring us Ramadhan)

It has bee mentioned by Abu’l Fath ibn Abi’l-Fawaris in his ‘Amali’ (dictations and transmissions) and Allama Suyuti has also mentioned in his Jami Saghir from Hasan Basri that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said,

“Rajab is the month of Allah. Shaban is my month. Ramadhan is the month of my ummah (followers).”

From the above hadith, it shows that it is preferable to make dua, to remain in the coming and following months, in order to perform good actions in them, because a true believer increases in his age with goodness. The best of people is the one who lives long and performs good actions.

The pious predecessors used to prefer dying after performing good actions, like the fast of Ramadhan or returning from Haj. And it was said by them, ‘whoever dies in this way, is forgiven.’

There is no doubt that the month of Rajab is the key to the opening of the months of goodness and blessing.

Abu Bakr Warraq (May Allah be pleased with him) said,

‘Rajab is a month of cultivation, Shaban is month of irrigating the fields, and the month of Ramadhan is a month of reaping and harvesting.’

The summary is, that the month of Rajab is a sacred month and the first, virtuous and noble of them all. So it is appropriate to celebrate it ENTIRELY and to give attention to it by performing good acts, and refraining oneself from sins and offensive things, because it is the month of Allah.

It has been mentioned that Allah said,‘Fasting is for me and I will recompense for it.’

Fasting in the month of Rajab prevents one from sins, let alone refraining one from killing and having enmity towards the enemy (which this month was made sacred for), like it was practised by the people in the ignorant (jahili) period.

Burdah (The Cloak): World’s Most Popular Single Poem

Poem of the CloakI personally feel overwhelmingly obliged to the Great Lover Imam Sharafudheen Muhammed Al Busiri for providing me his marvelous words in praising our Beloved Messenger (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). I can never pay off his charity of that single day when I was  reading those piercing lines of sublime love in the vicinity of the most sacred place in the universe, i.e. in front of our Master, the Messenger Of Allah(Peace and Blessings be upon Him). Can we pen down a single line, worthier or dearer than those sacred lines, even if we spend all of our life span?? Never! O’ Great Imam Al Busiri!!, May Allah reward you with the best of rewards. May Allah join us with our Beloved Master. Ameen

I would like here to quote  a famous western Islamic scholar Mr. Timothy J. Winter (Abdal Hakim Murad),Cambridge University, UK , as he says “what we are dealing with is very probably the most influential and the most popular single poem in the history of any language. There simply is no other text from ancient or recent times that has been done in so many languages, not just for some rarefied literary elite but for the people…”

It has been recited all over the Muslim world for centuries and get carved on mosques even in the Holy Mosque of the Prophet(Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) in Medina.
Here is an introduction for “The Burda” Sung by Fez Singers of Morocco and released  by Sandala Filims in the United States, with the translation of  noted American scholar Sheikh  Hamza Yusuf ; A documentary really   worthy to watch !

Another passage on the poem reads “Qasida Burdah as a poem has had a unique history. Even in the poet’s lifetime it was already regarded as sacred. Over 90 commentaries have been written on this poem by many of the foremost scholars and imams of Islam, including Ibn Hajar, Mulla Ali al-Qari, Ibn Allan, Bajuri, and others. It has been translated into Persian, Urdu, Turkish, Berber, Punjabi, English, French, German, Sindhi, Dutch and other languages. The poem is memorized and recited in congregations, and its verses decorate the walls of public buildings and mosques. From coasts of Senegal to the Philippines, from Russia to South Africa, everywhere Qasida Burdah is recited as a token of love for the Prophet and to ask for blessings.”

Mean while we see people who cannot enjoy the beauty of the poem dare labeling it UnIslamic. What a Pity! We can’t but feel sympathy and pray for them to recover from their hapless state.

Signs of the End Times – War and Terror

If you go through the Chapter of ‘Afflictions’ (الفتن)in the Sahih al Bukhari you would see astonishing prophecies that the beloved Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم had made on the contemporary world! Actually the beloved was speaking about the signs of the last day. Please see some of them here.

1. ‏قال النبي ‏ ‏صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ ‏إن بين يدي الساعة لأياما ينزل فيها الجهل ويرفع فيها العلم ويكثر فيها الهرج والهرج القتل

The Prophet said, “Near the establishment of the Hour there will be days during which (religious) knowledge will be taken away (vanish) and general ignorance will spread, and there will be Al-Harj in abundance, and Al-Harj means killing.”

The Prophet said, “Time will pass rapidly, good deeds will decrease, miserliness will be thrown (in the hearts of the people) afflictions will appear and there will be much ‘Al-Harj.” They said, “O Allah’s Apostle! What is “Al-Harj?” He said, “Killing! Killing!”

What is really amazing is that the special word used by the messenger which was hitherto unknown to His companions, obviously to stress the graveness of the large scale killings occurring on those days. we can easily see the drastic increase in the casualties of wars and other atrocities in recent times. Due to the damned weapons of mass destruction that some countries possess in addition to the atrocities of the armed terrorist, the world is no longer a better place to live in. This very fact too is already mentioned by the holy prophet in another hadith in Sahih Bukhari !. The Prophet said:

(لا تقوم الساعة حتى يمر الرجل بقبر الرجل فيقول يا ليتني مكانه” (رواه البخاري).

The Hour will not be established till a man when passing by a grave of someone will say, ‘Would that I were in his place!”

Another major sign that the Beloved prophet mentions is the widespread ignorance of the Religion. Now we see the ignorance reached to a position where the same religion is used to kill innocent people and to destroy cities. Things the prophet has strictly warned about. Also We hear those people ordering to give up authentic scholarly schools and to follow ignorant pretenders who distinct themselves from the blessed tradition of Islamic scholarship.

May Allah Save us from all afflictions! Please say Aameen!

On Hijab – Islamic Dress Code for Women

Here is a beautiful poem on Hijab

You look at me and call me oppressed,
Simply because of the way I’m dressed,

You know me not for what’s inside,
You judge the clothing I wear with pride,

My body is not for your eyes to hold,
You must speak to my mind, not my mould,

I’m an individual, I’m no mans slave,
It’s Allah’s pleasure that I only crave,

I have a voice so I will be heard,
For in my heart I carry His word,

“O ye women, wrap close your cloak,
so you won’t be bothered by ignorant folk”,

Man doesn’t tell me to dress this way,
It’s a law from God that I obey,

Oppressed is something I’m truly NOT,
For liberation is what I’ve got,

It was given to me many years ago,
With the right to prosper, the right to grow,

I can climb mountains or cross the seas,
Expand my mind in all degrees,

For God Himself gave us LIB-ER-TY,
When He sent Islam,To You and Me!

Ratib -al- Haddad and The Author

Ratib inscription inside the dome - Haddad Mosque,Tarim- Yemen

The author of the Ratib al-Haddadal-Sayyid Abdullah bin Alawi al-Haddad  was the 30th generation decendant of the Prophet S.A.W. He was born on 5 Safar 1044 H, in the outskirts of town called Tarim Subair.  He was a tall, barrel-chested, white and authoritative-looking. His speech reflects a beauty to one’s ear, filled with pearls of knowledge and valuable advice.

Al-Haddad was already well-known in Islamic societies of Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Pakistan and other Islamic countries in the Middle East. He was known for his writings, wirid and dzikr which were complied about four centuries ago, and still being practiced by the Islamic community at large.

When Habib Abdullah was 4-year-old, he was stricken with smallpox that was so severe which resulted to blind of his both eyes. But he managed to memorised the al-Qur’an and master the science of religion when he was still a child. Apparently Allah wanted to replace his outer sight with the inner sight.

He did not like fame nor glory, and do not like to be praised. He said, “Many people make poetry to compliment me, actually I wanted to prevent them, but I’m afraid that I might not be sincere in doing so, so I just ignore. In this case I prefer to imitate the Messenger of Allah, because he did not prohibits his companions when they read poems of praise to him.”

Aside of his religious activities and preaching, he also owns and maintains a plantation and chickens, and from earnings of the plantation and the chickens he used it to help the poor, orphans, widows, student of knowledge, and people who cant afford. Habib Abdullah also learn about agricultural science, and he often even sat with the farmers to teach agricultural sciences.

Ratib al-Haddad. Click Here to See the Ratib with English Translation

This ratib he compiled on one of the night in the month of Ramadan in 1071H to meet the demands of one of his student whose name was `Amir from the family of Banu Sa’ad that live in the city of Shibam (one of the city in the province of Hadhramaut). The purpose of `Amir was that they can defend and save themselves from the heresy teachings. After al-Habib Abdullah bin Alawi al-Haddad left for pilgrimage, ratib al-Haddad began to be read in Mecca and Medina. Al-Habib Ahmad bin Zain al-Habshi said, “Anyone who read ratib al-Haddad with conviction and sincerity, He will get something out of his expectation.”

Finally on Tuesday evening, 7 Dzulqa’dah 1132H, he returned to the Almighty, leaving many students, his works and his fragrance name in this world. And within the city, he was buried in Zanbal cemetery. May Allah SWT uplift his position to the high noble status and gives us lots of benefits from his knowledge.

Suicide and Bombing – Two Heinous Crimes in Islam

Today we read the sad story of explosions in Russia. This carnage has been already linked to the “terrorist groups related to the North Caucasus” which includes the troubled nation of Chechnya. Muslims are once again on defense. BBC today published another story on preventing extremism with photo of a prostrating Muslim! http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/8593862.stm

Here we need to reiterate our position. It has nothing to do with our great religion Islam which advocates but Peace. Suicide is a serious crime and bombing against innocent civilians is another much more condemnable one. None of these justifies  the other at all.

I feel it is quite timely to read again what Sayyid Habeeb Ali Jifri told to Washington Post in its interview. The Question was:

What is Jihad? Under what circumstances does Islam sanction the use of violence? What would you tell would be suicide bombers who would invoke Islam to justify their actions?

“….The Islamic tradition forbids suicide; it forbids any form of harm to innocent people. The Islamic tradition advocates the rule of law in the strongest terms…..”

Somali Sufi group joins government to fight al-Shabab- BBC News

Government soldier (12/03/10)

Government forces only control a small part of the capital, Mogadishu

A powerful Sufi Muslim group has joined Somalia’s government to tackle the al-Qaeda-inspired al-Shabab insurgents who control large parts of the country.

The deal, signed at the African Union headquarters in Ethiopia, is seen as a significant military boost for the beleaguered UN-backed government.

The Ahlu Sunna Wal Jamaa group controls several areas in central Somalia, where it has been fighting al-Shabab.

AU head Jean Ping welcomed the deal as a historic opportunity for peace.

He urged al-Shabab to lay down its weapons.

map

Al-Shabab and its allies control much of southern Somalia, while the government, backed by AU peacekeepers, controls only a few parts of the capital, Mogadishu.

“We have agreed to share power,” said Somali Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke at the signing ceremony.

Under the deal, Ahlu Sunna will be given five ministries and its forces will be incorporated into the government’s security structures.

Ahlu Sunna and al-Shabab have very different interpretations of Islam.

However, some Ahlu Sunna factions have opposed the deal.

Hearts and minds: Communities divided over how to tackle extremists

An influential Muslim scholar is to issue in London a global ruling against terrorism and suicide bombing.

Dr Tahir ul-Qadri, from Pakistan, says his 600-page judgement, known as a fatwa, completely dismantles al-Qaeda’s violent ideology.

The scholar describes al-Qaeda as an “old evil with a new name” which has not been sufficiently challenged.

The scholar’s movement is growing in the UK and has attracted the interest of policymakers and security chiefs.

In his religious ruling, Dr Qadri says that Islam forbids the massacre of innocent citizens and suicide bombings.

Although many scholars have made similar rulings in the past, Dr Qadri’s followers argue that the massive document being launched in London goes much further.

Extremist groups based in Britain recruit the youth by brainwashing them that they will be rewarded in the next life

Shahid Mursaleen

They say it sets out point-by-point theological arguments against the rhetoric used by al-Qaeda inspired recruiters.

The fatwa also challenges the religious motivations of would-be suicide bombers who are inspired by promises of an afterlife.

The populist scholar developed his document last year as a response to the increase in bombings across Pakistan by militants.

The basic text has been extended to 600 pages to cover global issues, in an attempt to get its theological arguments taken up by Muslims in western nations. It will be promoted in the UK by Dr Qadri’s organisation, Minhaj ul-Quran International.

Shahid Mursaleen, spokesman for Minhaj-ul-Quran in the UK, said the fatwa was hard-hitting.

“This fatwa injects doubt into the minds of potential suicide bombers,” he said.

“Extremist groups based in Britain recruit the youth by brainwashing them that they will ‘with certainty’ be rewarded in the next life.

“Dr Qadri’s fatwa has removed this key intellectual factor from their minds.”

Religious rulings

The document is not the first to condemn terrorism and suicide bombing to be launched in the UK.

MINHAJ UL-QURAN
Islamic organisation from the Sufi tradition
Active in 70 countries
5,000 members in UK

Scholars from across the UK came together in the wake of the 7 July London attacks to denounce the bombers and urge communities to root out extremists.

But some scholarly rulings in the Middle East have argued that the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians is an exceptional situation where “martyrdom” attacks can be justified.

Although Dr Qadri has a large following in Pakistan, Minhaj ul-Quran International remained largely unknown in the UK until relatively recently.

It now has 10 mosques in the British cities with significant Muslim communities and says it is targeting younger generations it believes have been let down by traditional leaders.

The organisation is attracting the attention of policymakers and security chiefs who are continuing to look for allies in the fight against extremists.

The Department for Communities, which runs most of the government’s “Preventing Violent Extremism” strategy, has tried building bridges with a variety of liberal-minded groups, but often found that they have limited actual influence at the grassroots.

Don’t Excuse; No Confusion!

Almighty Allah unequivocally announces in the Holy Quran that “Verily, the Right Path has become distinct from the wrong path”(2 -256). So differences of opinion in the Muslim Ummah do not excuse any confusion in finding the right path. All measures have been taken to ensure that a sincere truth seeker does not go astray. This has been already discussed in some of my past posts and here I would like to put down some additional support with unquestionably authentic Hadiths.
A Muslim cannot distrust his Creator while he says in the Holy Quran. “He (Muhammad  (صلى الله عليه وسلم)  is anxious over you (to be rightly guided, to be saved from the punishment of the Hell-fire). For the believers (he is) full of pity, kind, and merciful.(9-128)

A Hadith reported By Imam Bukhari and Narrated By ‘Uqba bin ‘Amir (RA) reads: One day the Prophet(صلى الله عليه وسلم)  went out and offered the funeral prayers of the martyrs of Uhud and then went up the pulpit and said, “I will pave the way for you as your predecessor and will be a witness on you. By Allah! I see my Fount (Kauthar) just now and I have been given the keys of all the treasures of the earth (or the keys of the earth). By Allah! I am not afraid that you will worship others along with Allah after my death, but I am afraid that you will fight with one another for the worldly things.”

Today if some body comes to warn you about being Polytheistic when u call your beloved prophet” Oh My Prophet” and says that the whole Ummah except a few are polytheists and that the prophets said so because he didn’t know that, can you believe him? Do these urchins know better than the prophet and are they more anxious over Muslim Ummah than the Prophet himself!!? NEVER .

What else a Muslim Needs? Wiping out any possible confusion that might emerge in the final stages of his ummah, the Messenger strictly warned about these guys in another Hadith Reported By Imam Muslim and Narrated By Abu Huraira (RA). The Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “there will be a group of people in the end of the days who will bring you views that neither you nor your forefathers ever heard of. So be warned and let them be warned. Allow them not to misguide you and cause Fitna (i.e. in your hearts)”

The new ideology claims that the Muslim Ummah was in utter darkness, ignorance and full of polytheism especially in Makkah and Medina until their leader comes with his ‘revolutionary’ ideas. Here we see our dearest prophet very specifically warning against this fellow. Glory to the God! and Peace and Blessing to The Messenger!

The Hadith is also Reported By Imam Bukhari and Narrated By Ibn ‘Umar (RA):The Prophet said, “O Allah! Bestow Your blessings on our Sham! O Allah! Bestow Your blessings on our Yemen.” The People said, “And also on our Najd.” He said, “O Allah! Bestow Your blessings on our Sham (north)! O Allah! Bestow Your blessings on our Yemen.” The people said, “O Allah’s Apostle! And also on our Najd.” I think the third time the Prophet said, “There (in Najd) is the place of earthquakes and afflictions and from there comes out the side of the head of Satan.”

(See what Encyclopedia Britannica has to say on Najd http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/401967/Najd)

There are also many authentic Hadiths which refute their wild ideology downright. The Most Beloved Said: Satan is hopeless of idols being worshipped in The Arabian peninsula. While the history shows us the Wahabee terrorists destroying the shrines of the prophet’s companions and other pious people labelled as idols. Even the Blessed Green Dome is not left out from this heinous allegation and they are waiting for the right time. Poor guys! They think the God turned down the prophet’s humble supplication for his shrine not to be worshipped and so they are undertaking that responsibility instead of Almighty Allah! God forbid!

Our Beloved Messenger has made things very clear, and now It is upon you to decide for yourself,

O! Our beloved Prophet, we bear witness that You have conveyed the whole Message, and it is well communicated, You have fulfilled the trust bestowed upon You and it is well performed. And You have struggled for the sake of Allah the true Jihad, and you left us in the clearest path where the night is as bright as the day. So May Allah reward you the best of Rewards and bless us with Your Most Glorious Companionship. Ameen

What is Man?

It is a very old question and the answer was man is a speaking animal. We studied this  from the classic texts of philosophy as the definition of ‘human being’ (الإنسان حيوان ناطق).

World renowned linguist and intelligentsia Noam Chomsky has the same answer to that old question!  He says “Right. What are humans? One distinctive feature about humans is the language capacity. It’s central for our present existence and it doesn’t seem to have anything analogous or homologous to other organisms. It seems unique to the human species, it’s essential and it’s also uniform across the species” (http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/1992/chomsky-0401.html)

As information scientist Werner Gitt observed in his fascinating book, The Wonder of Man: ‘Only man has the gift of speech, a characteristic otherwise only possessed by God. This separates us clearly from the animal kingdom … In addition to the necessary “software” for speech; we have also been provided with the required “hardware”.*

The Origin

Jean Aitchison noted:
‘In 1866, a ban on the topic was incorporated into the founding statutes of the Linguistic Society of Paris, perhaps the foremost academic linguistic institution of the time: ‘The Society does not accept papers on either the origin of language or the invention of a universal language.

Famous Evolutionist, John Mc Crone, says:
‘It all started with an ape that learned to speak.  Man’s hominid ancestors were doing well enough, even though the world had slipped into the cold grip of the ice ages.  But “How did that first ape learn to speak? He couldn’t answer. This is a clear admission of defeat because to answer is to admit the existence of God*.

Even Mr. Chomsky has no answer! ‘Very few people are concerned with the origin of language because most consider it a hopeless question’, however ,he adds, “You can find people right on this campus who think it’s a very answerable question.”

Yes, the fact is that the one, who designed the human being with all its wonders, provided him with necessary hardware and software and taught him how to run this application.

By the age of six, the average child has learned to use and understand about 13,000 words; by eighteen it will have a working vocabulary of 60,000 words.  That means it has been learning an average of ten new words a day since its first birthday, the equivalent of a new word every 90 minutes of its waking life

In order to speak a word that has been read,
information is obtained from the eyes and travels to the visual cortex.  From the primary visual cortex, information is transmitted to the posterior speech area (which includes Wernicke’s area).  From there, information travels to Broca’s area, and then to the to provide the necessary muscle contractions to produce the sound*

Holy Quran said.
,
وعلم ادم الأسماء كلها – البقرة 31 ” And He taught Adam all the names” (2- 31)

So the language is the gift of the God and every human being is owed to Him for every single word he utters even if he speaks against the God!

The almighty God Allah  reminds the mankind about this obligation and the importance of this wonderful gift by revealing the very first verse in the Holy Quran,
i.e.   (اقرأ بسم ربك الذي خلق)   “Read in the name of your Lord Who created” 96- 1.

Thank You My Lord, for all Your Benevolence.

Anthropocentric Worldview

We read in the Holy Quran
(2: 29) هُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ لَكُم مَّا فِي الأَرْضِ جَمِيعا
“He it is who created for you all that is in the earth”
and we see the following two instances scientifically upholding this declaration

1. Summer Fruits and Winter Fruits

Fruits are developed by the reproductive process in the plants. They  are delicious, and at the same time, have the vitamins and the minerals that are essential for human beings!.There are different fruits for winter and summer, each one meeting our needs. The oranges, tangerines and grape fruits, for instance, that come out in winter have an abundance of vitamin C. Vitamin C increases the strength of our body against  the winter’s cold.
During the summer, juicy fruits such as watermelons, cherries, cantaloupe and peaches come out. In the summer, the weather becomes hot, causing our bodies to lose water, and we are able to replace his water with the help of these fruits.
2. The human beings are designed to eat animals and plants (Humans are Omnivorous)

a) If you look at the teeth of herbivorous animals like the cow, goat and sheep, you will find that all these animals have a flat set of teeth i.e. suited for herbivorous diet.

If you look at the set of teeth of the carnivorous animals like the lion or tiger, they all have a pointed set of teeth i.e. suited for a carnivorous diet.

If you analyze the set of teeth of humans, you find that they have flat teeth as well as pointed teeth. Thus they have teeth suited for both herbivorous as well as carnivorous food i.e. they are omnivorous.

b)The digestive system of herbivorous animals can digest only vegetables. The digestive system of carnivorous animals can digest only meat. But the digestive system of humans can digest both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.

This declaration is also supported by the Anthropocentric Worldview.

What is Anthropocentrism?
“Anthropocentrism is a world view that considers humans to be the most important factor and value in the Universe. In contrast, the biocentric world view considers humans to be no more than a particular species of animal, without greater intrinsic value than any of the other species of organisms that occur on Earth “. http://science.jrank.org/collection/1/Gale-Encyclopedia-Science.html

“According to Francis Bacon,  “Man, if we look to final causes, may be regarded as  the  centre of  the World…For the whole world works together in the service of man; and there is nothing from which he does not derive use and fruit…insomuch that all things seem to going about man’s business and not  their own.” http://www.ecoling.net/worldviews_and_metaphors_-_final.pdf

“According to the German philosopher Immanuel Kant (1724–1804), humans alone have self-consciousness. Humans are therefore fundamentally different in rank and dignity from all other beings, while animals can be treated as means to human ends.  The moral status of humans is thus awarded on the basis of “excellence.” Values are grounded in the fact that something is valuable for humans, and so human actions should be valued on the basis of their usefulness for humans.

Both scientists and the theologians have drawn on anthropocentrism to defend specific views about nature. scientists often on  the  basis of a perspective on evolution in which humans are considered  the  highest form of life on Earth, and  theologians on  the  basis of a divinely mandated right for humans to exercise dominion over nature”. http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1G2-3404200025.html

Allah has created this whole world for human beings and made them His delegates. Although it is impossible for them to fully comprehend His wisdom, he demonstrates His signs to them so that they shall keep up the divine delegacy .

Mosquito in the Holy Quran!

Some may see the title inappropriate or even blasphemous. But the Almighty Allah has categorically declares that ” Surely Allah is not ashamed to set forth any parable– [that of] a mosquito or any thing above that; then as for those who believe, they know that it is the truth from their Lord, and as for those who disbelieve, they say: What is it that Allah means by this parable: He causes many to err by it and many He leads aright by it! But He does not cause to err by it [any] except the transgressors” Holy Quran 2:26

Thus Quran mentions this creature as an example and nothing to be ashamed about it. If we go for a study into this tiny creature we would be entering into an astonishing world of divine technology. Whoever overlooks its significance especially in Human Healthcare deserves harsh bites!

The following graphic sheds light on this creature’s organic structure.

The Mosquito in the Quran has special significance as it proves indisputably that only its creator can reveal those words. First of all the word itself shows its gender as feminine and the modern technology now discovered that it is the female that keeps us awake and enjoy the title as the International Killer. It is also astonishing what holy Quran attaches to it which is translated as ‘or anything above that’ but actually it is one of the limitations of the translation. It has been said that better to translate as “and what is upon her”.

Now everybody knows that mosquitoes are dangerous because of what they carry! Wikipedia has this to say:
“When a mosquito bites, she also injects saliva and anti-coagulants into the blood which may also contain disease-causing viruses or other parasites…….”

“Mosquitoes are estimated to transmit disease to more than 700 million people annually in Africa, South America, Central America, Mexico and much of Asia with millions of resulting deaths. In Europe, Russia, Greenland, Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and other temperate and developed countries, mosquito bites are now mostly an irritating nuisance; but still cause some deaths each year.[3] Historically, before mosquito transmitted diseases were brought under control, they caused tens of thousands of deaths in these countries and hundreds of thousands of infections.[4] Mosquitoes were shown to be the method by which yellow fever and malaria were transmitted from person to person by Walter Reed, William C. Gorgas and associates in the U.S. Army Medical Corps first in Cuba and then around the Panama Canal in the early 1900s.[5][6] Since then other diseases have been shown to be transmitted the same way.”

Here you can watch Sheikh Hamza Yusuf speaks on the verse above in an event on Malaria conducted by Tony Blair faith Foundation.

Seeking the Truth

Today I would like to write on the candid comment posted by Truth Seeker. He thinks that the confusion of my friend that I referred in the post ‘on difference’ is quite sensible and explains the reason. He cited four ‘reasons’ or ‘methods’ of people to come to the Truth/Islam and counted Using intellect being one of them.

For me, this ‘classification of reasons’ has some serious errors. It conveys a wrong notion that the first 3 classes don’t use intellect at all!

Islam includes scores of values and principles, so nobody can swallow them all at once. However, basic principles about the Almighty God and The Beloved Messenger should not be overlooked or misunderstood, Also there are undisputed articles of the religion that everybody must accept. Later on, every Muslim is expected and instructed by the religion itself to increase his/her knowledge of Islam as much as possible.

The prophet said that the only one among 73 groups is the right group. However, he clearly defines them as those who follow THE PROPHET AND HIS COMPANIONS.

There is no room for confusion. Leave alone claims and see the reality. You can look the traditions, look out for the activities of the concerned groups, and find out the right group. That is all.

In my experience when I see the right group as visible as the daylight without any kind of confusion. I cannot help being affiliated with those people. Here, I do not care at all to be branded or to be laughed at, since I have the real conviction.

Still I listen carefully and with due respect to the argument of other groups trying to strengthen my own belief and to help them find the truth. If any body thinks that I missed the truth and is kind enough to share the truth, he conceives, I humbly do request him to come on with the facts so that finally we both can share the same real Truth.

Swine Flu A/H1N1

Swine Flu H!N!

People are talking about that brand new disease called Swine Flu. The debate is going on the very name! Now WHO insists that the disease should be called InfluenzaH1N1. There are many reasons; one is economic and another one ’emotional’. It is obvious that this NAME will effect the pork industry; that is economic, but the other one is quiet strange. An AP report says that some argues to rename this illness as it is sensitive for Jews and Muslims since they consider this animal as unclean (najas) and forbidden (haram) and so the NAME – unclean and forbidden!
“No matter what you call it, leading experts say the virus that is scaring the world is pretty much all pig.” Says Associated Press Science editor  Seth Borenstein. Read the news here.

Before 14 centuries, Islam forbade not only eating pork meat but also any contact with this animal. There are enough visible and rational grounds for this ban. Some scientists say that “Eating of pork can cause no less than seventy different types of diseases”. It is well known that it contains excess fat and is filthiest animal in the world.

The Holy Quran Says: Sura 5 Verse 3

Forbidden to you is that which dies of itself, and blood, and flesh of swine, and that on which any other name than that of Allah has been invoked, and thestrangled [animal] and that beaten to death, and that killed by a fall and thatkilled by being smitten with the horn, and that which wild beasts have eaten, except what you slaughter, and what is sacrificed on stones set up [for idols]and that you divide by the arrows; that is a transgression This day have thosewho disbelieve despaired of your religion, so fear them not, and fear Me Thisday have I perfected for you your religion and completed My favor on you andchosen for you Islam as a religion; but whoever is compelled by hunger, notinclining willfully to sin, then surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful

May Allah The Merciful save us all from this epidemic and all other menaces in both the worlds. Aameen

On Difference!

Recently my friend posed some questions pertaining to the difference of opinions amongst the religious sects and the difficulties he faces in making the decision to be with the right people. I felt great respect when he asked me about the minimum set of belief that is needed to escape from the hellfire. While struggling to keep his way of life untainted with the culture he lives in, these differences of opinion inside the religion brought to him a kind of confusion.

Every known school of thought seemed to be biased while claiming that the ultimate truth is with them and every individual is biased to what he think as the Truth.

Should we be afraid of being biased while the truth itself is biased?

Impartiality is important and necessary for one who does not know the truth. Therefore, to find the truth we have to get a stand equally distant from and near to every party involved. But once we achieved the truth we should never lose it.

Thanks to Almighty Allah, The Holy Quran does not allow an honest truth seeker to be confused, In the First Chapter Sura Al Fatiha Vese No 7 , Allah explains clearly the Right Path as the path of the best people.

صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنعَمتَ عَلَيهِمْ غَيرِ المَغضُوبِ عَلَيهِمْ وَلاَ الضَّالِّينَ

“The path of those upon whom Thou hast bestowed favors, Not [the path] of those upon whom Thy wrath is brought down, nor of those who go astray”

If you just look around you and a bit more behind in the history you can easily see that these differences are innovations and The Great personalities of this Religion standing up as Light-houses for the whole humanity. The Holy Quran says:

وَقُلْ جَاء الْحَقُّ وَزَهَقَ الْبَاطِلُ إِنَّ الْبَاطِلَ كَانَ زَهُوقًا

And say: The truth has come and the falsehood has vanished; surely falsehood is a vanishing [thing].

The Design

Here I have two wondeful designs that we see in the nature. Yes, Some people hesitates to call them as designs only because it plainly leads to the existence of the Designer. We have seen atheism desperately failing to explian this argument i.e. “Argument from Design”. But they are terribly few!. Recent surveys put this kind of ‘atheists’ below 3% of the total World population. So we just ignore this extinguishing species.

Here, let’s enjoy the beautiful and supremely intelligent designs in the humanbody, an astonishing world between our two little fingers!

And their home, an extra-ordinary abode specially designed for this little ‘creature’.

The Message

Islam is a way of life. Neither is it a collection of utopian ideas nor a heap of obsolete dogmas. It is the user guide issued by the Producer for His wonderful product ‘homo sapiens’ in order to get the best of usage. If applied, users get pleasant experience of a successful life here and hereafter.
He chooses  special executives with extra-ordinary qualities to present His guidance to people. They are called Messengers. Obviously, the first human being was the first messenger also; thus each and every civil society has its own messenger.
Finally the Prophet Muhammed (SAWS) has been sent for the Whole World. Since the global community has reduced to a single entity and the communications among people has become so easy the world doesn’t need any more messengers. Moreover, the guidance of the final prophet is still effective and pragmatic so that it successfully survives the challenge of time.
Enough precautions have been taken to keep the Message clear to all members of the society from the Prophet’s generation to the last.
Satan was created capable of seducing the incompetent, to test peoples’ loyalty and adherence to the divine guidance. The Almighty has maintained in every generation a group of people who will prevail over all attempts of seduction and pass the message to the next generation.
This Group is called Ahlu Sunna Wal Jamaath.
Therefore, it is necessary for all human being to ensure that he finds himself together with the right people to get the eternal success here and hereafter. We read in the Holy Quran Chapter I verse 6-7:

اهدِنَــــا الصِّرَاطَ المُستَقِيمَ  صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنعَمتَ عَلَيهِمْ غَيرِ المَغضُوبِ عَلَيهِمْ وَلاَ الضَّالِّينَ
Keep us on the right path-The path of those upon whom Thou hast bestowed favors, Not [the path] of those upon whom Thy wrath is brought down, nor of those who go astray- Ameen
