Difference between our messenger and God’s messenger

Habib Jifri says:

There is a huge difference between defending the messenger of ALLAH and defending MY messenger. We often hear people saying my messenger, my prophet, my book, my religion, etc… which points to selfishness and ego. It is like to be angry for My tribe, my group, my party, my car or my children. To be angry for the sake of Allah’s Messenger is much greater than all of these.  The first thing to be noted is this fusion of selfishness. Why do we go so deep to search inside our mind? Because it effects our actions and dealings. Whenever we anger for the messenger of God, it should be connected to the will of God. If we anger for our own messenger we would anger as per our own will, destroying and hurting. Wishing sky to fall upon the wrong doer, and also upon the whole country and all other fellow citizens!!

This is because of the confusion between our messenger and Allah’s messenger. We need to deal with issue as it is connected to the messenger of Allah and not to messenger of ours. He is not our messenger but Almighty Allah’s Messenger sent to us. It is a big difference.

Prophet Muhammad is ‘the mercy to all worlds’ to Muslims: Egypt’s mufti

It goes without saying that violence of any sort, whether inspired by religious sentiment or secular interests, must be condemned unequivocally and in the strongest terms possible. This is in keeping with the best of Muslim tradition, which abhors sectarian rife, inter-ethnic conflict, and interreligious violence. This lesson is best contained in the example of the Prophet Mohammed himself, who was repeatedly subjected to the worst treatment by his enemies, only to consistently disregard these insults and instead take the path of forgiveness, mercy and compassion. This is why he is known to Muslims as “the Mercy to all worlds.” Indeed, this example is most succinctly summarized in the Quran itself, which instructs believers as follows: “The good deed and the evil deed are not alike. Repel the evil deed with one which is better.”

The world is sorely in need of such lessons, which represent the authentic teachings of the Quran and the Prophet of Islam. It is important to separate these noble messages from those that are bandied about by those who have no competencies in religious interpretation, Quranic hermeneutics or the history of Islamic thought. Unfortunately, the current state of the Muslim world is such that institutions and structures of legitimate authority have been weakened to such an extent that inflammatory rhetoric has taken the place of thoughtful analysis as a motivator of action and a guide for religious sentiment.

We are today in desperate need of serious religious leaders who engage the reality of the modern world – complete with its challenges and difficulties – in order to create an environment in which people can coexist. This must be a joint effort from members of all faith groups and cultures.

A necessary part of any such effort must be a sincere desire to understand what is behind the Muslims’ reverence for the Prophet. For more than a billion Muslims around the world, the Prophet Mohammed is their ultimate example. He is their reference point and, as the Quran explains: “dearer to them than their own selves.”

Prophets are the means, in the Islamic worldview, through which people have been taught about God. This is no less true for the succession of Prophets that preceded Islam – including Abraham, Moses and Jesus – than it is for the Prophet Mohammed himself. They are revered teachers who taught us the very nature of reality, the purpose of our existence, and how to connect with God Himself.

As a result, Muslims strive to emulate the example of the Prophet in every aspect of their lives. They seek to inculcate the values in a deep and profound manner. These include, among other things, the ability to confront evil provocations with patience, tolerance and mercy. These are, for Muslims, spiritual values of the utmost importance, and they are best exemplified in the life of the Prophet Mohammed himself.

A famous story from his life is known to Muslims around the world. One of his enemies was a woman who lived above a street he used to pass daily, and would litter the streets with garbage as he walked past. One morning, when the Prophet was walking by, he noticed no such provocation. His response to this sudden reprieve was to ask after the woman’s health, concerned that she had strayed from her daily routine, as painful as it might have been for himself. The stories of the Prophet’s praying for his enemies, and exhibiting enormous steadfastness in the face of insults and provocations, are legion in Islamic literature.

This should be the Muslim ideal, there is no doubt. Unfortunately, it is not possible that everyone can live up to the ideal. What is clear is that people’s attachment to the personage of the Prophet is undiminished, even when they are unable for their own reasons to live up to the lessons he has taught. Insults against the Prophet are taken as more serious than insults against one’s own parents and family, indeed than one’s own self. The Prophet is a sacred figure, who taught Muslims how to live in this world, and whose appearance in the world was a gift from the divine.

As such, inflammatory materials that are clearly designed to offend the deeply-held sensibilities of over a billion people around the world only contribute to the escalation of tensions with no observable benefit.

Muslims should either ignore such provocations, or respond non-violently, as per the limits laid down by their religion. Such limits have been obviously transgressed in recent days, and the broader Muslim religious establishment as well as the Coptic Church in Egypt all joined in calling for calm and not allowing this to further escalate.

Ready to Receive Ramadan?

Don’t miss the beginning !

Once again the blessed month of Ramadan is coming in. Ramadan is a time of wonderful experience when a believer’s life gets rejuvenated. The beginning moments of Ramadan is most important . Unfortunately, many people are unaware of its importance and often spend this time in shopping malls or amusement venues. As we all know Ramadan is  an accepted witness for or against human being in the Day of judgement. The best thing to get it in our favor  is to show up ourselves for its reception and impress it with best possible words and deeds .

Beginning of Ramadan cannot be calculated in advance. It is the beauty of this religion to keep its followers excited for Ramadan. You can read the benefits of Islāmic calendar in this post. https://baqavi.wordpress.com/2010/08/02/moon-sighting-and-lunar-calendar/
There I have written the importance of looking the crescent and the special prayers to be chanted at that time. It is expected to see the New Moon crescent Of Ramadan  in the U.A.E. on Thursday  19-07-2012 approximately  at 7 :10 PM.

Scholars say that what you think of Ramadan is exactly what you can expect from it. If you think it would be tiresome and dull so it would be for you. On the other hand, if you want it to be a season of great enlightenment and spiritual ecstasy it would be so. Likewise, if you are happy to see and welcome it, it would be happy and kind to you and vice-versa. May Allah make Ramadan a season of spiritual enlightenment and Divine blessings for us. Aameen

Wish you a happy and blessed month of Ramadan !

Al Jazeera Documentary on Blessed Relics

Beloved prophet (PBUH) has left for his lovers not only his everlasting teachings but also physical belongings including a piece of tooth and many strands of his blessed hair. These things are of a great importance for his lovers as a living strand of dynamic connection to their Prophet through the ages.

Al Jazeera Network on their Documentary channel broadcasted a film in Arabic about the blessed relics of the holy Prophet (PBUH). The film was produced by Mr. Majdi Imam with commentary of reputed Scholar and the Grand Mufti of Egypt, Dr. Ali Gomaa.

Here is an extract from the film followed by its Arabic text and English translation.

Translation :

There are too many blessed hairs even today widely spread in many countries of the Islāmic world. The reason for this large quantity is the prophet’s (PBUH) shaving on his Farewell Hajj and his order to Abu Talha (R) to distribute the hairs from the left side of his head among people and he has done it. In Turkey some hairs of the Prophet’s (PBUH) blessed beard is kept in a glass vial filled with beeswax closed from both sides.
…………………..
To have a strand of His hair in my possession is dearer to me than everything on earth’ this is the criterion of the Perfect Love.

Model of India’s biggest mosque unveiled – IANS

Kozhikode (Kerala), Jan 30, (IANS)
The model of what is billed as India’s biggest mosque — accommodating 25,000 in its courtyard — was unveiled here Monday.

The mosque is to come up in a 40 acres near here and the complex will also house a heritage museum, convention halls, and a media centre, according to the Jamia Markazu Ssaquafathi Ssunniyya headed by Muslim scholar Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobaker Musliyar, who unveiled the model here.

“The heritage museum is for the protection and exhibition of all such holy remnants of prophets and men of Islamic importance, and this will surely add a new dimension to the cultural life of Kerala,” said Musliyar.

Speaking to IANS, an official of the Markaz said that the work on the mosque is expected to begin in April and would be completed in 18 months time.

“The cost of the project is estimated to be Rs.40 crore and will come through public contributions. The feature of the mosque is that initially it would be an open one and would more or less resemble the famed Jama Masjid in Delhi,” said the official who did not wish to be identified.

Musliyar heads the popular social, charity and educational organisation based here, which has taught more than 30,000 students from various states in the country in the last three decades.

Three years back, the Markaz was in the news when more than 100 children from Kashmir were brought here for basic education.

Delhi’s Jama Masjid is currently India’s biggest mosque

Let us celebrate the prophet of Mercy

It is an inborn instinct of a human being to be happy for receiving precious gifts. Obviously Messengers of Allah are great gifts for the humanity.  The final messenger, Our beloved prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is declared by the Almighty as a gift of mercy for the whole universe where the humanity is a tiny world. (وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلا رَحْمَةً لِّلْعَالَمِينَ – we have not sent you except as a mercy to all the worlds 21 -107). Moreover He commands the human beings to be jubilant at this great Mercy. Say: In the bounty of Allah and in His mercy: therein they should rejoice. It is better than all what they accumulate 10-58.)

The month in which the beloved prophet was born inspires his lovers to celebrate that blessed event. We feel sympathy with those who cannot entertain this time.  Celebration initially springs up from the heart of a lover and it comes out in the form of words and deeds.  There is no meaning in arguing with people who cannot digest it since they lack the basic aspect of love.

Twitter

Last year I posted a map (Click to view) portraying the popularity and universality of Meelad celebrations. One of the few countries where the birthday is not a holiday is the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.   Interestingly I found one twitter message from Shaikh Adil Kalbani former Imam at Masjid al Haram asking to call the birthday an official holiday.

Natives of the Blessed land of Makkah and Madina do celebrate this occasion. Here, You can see famous scholar of Makkah and a former lecture at Masjid al Haram Muhammad Alawi Maliki participating in an official ceremony of Meelad celebration in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Fatwa

In Qatar, despite official patronage, people do celebrate it. Yousuf Al Qardawi , a well-known Qatari scholar issued fatwa in support of it.

Let me quote from the earlier post:  “It is a time to listen to and to speak of the marvelous personality of the holy Prophet as well as to renew the commitment to follow His way of life; A time to come closer to His great self and to His Lord, the Almighty Allah. Youngsters get introduced and elders get reminded of the humanity’s obligation towards its Savior. We need to set up personal relationship with him and to be close to him all the time.

May Allah bless us with his sweet and glorious companionship! Aameen.”

Tears as Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) relic brought to Chechnya

Just to Share this News from AFP
By Maria Antonova (AFP) – 5 days ago

MOSCOW — Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov broke into floods of tears as he unveiled a purported relic of the Prophet Mohammed in a bizarre ceremony involving a Rolls Royce motorcade, reports said Thursday.

The government of the majority Muslim Russian Northern Caucasus region, recovering after two separatist wars and still battling Islamic insurgents, boasted that the cup was 1,400 years old and had belonged to the Prophet.

The cup had earlier been flown into the Chechen capital Grozny from London where it was kept by unnamed descendants of Mohammed’s cousin Ali.

Kadyrov, clad in a bright purple shirt and trousers and a black Muslim skullcap, triumphantly carried the boxed relic straight off the plane at the airport at the ceremony on Wednesday.

He then sped through Grozny in a Rolls-Royce cabriolet surrounded by a motorcade of dozens of luxury cars, the first Russian television pictures of the event showed Thursday.

The flag-waving delegation then arrived to Grozny’s central mosque greeted by a crowd of singing and clapping people.

The Chechen leader proceeded to take the jade-coloured bowl out of bubble wrapping, and broke down in uncontrollable tears after kissing the object, covering his reddening face and shaking violently.

Chechen television aired a 18-minute long special on the event posted on the websiteChechnyatoday.com that shows Kadyrov’s car covered in traditional rugs gliding along a major street in slow motion to the sounds of a Chechen song with English-language lyrics “You came to me… when I was so lost.”

Footage showed a crowd of several hundred assembled near the mosque to listen to impassioned speeches in Chechen and shout “Allahu Akbar!” before the cup was shown to the public. Several took a sip from the cup and prayed.

The Chechen government said in a statement on its website that “the cup was used by Prophet Mohammed, passing to his cousin Ali ibn Abi Talib the fourth Caliph.” Further details on its authenticity were not immediately available.

Anyone will be able to drink water from it on the day of Mohammed’s birthday, the Chechen government said.

“Nobody can say anything else about the origin of the cup,” a Chechen government spokesman told AFP. “The negotiations were led by the famous businessman Ruslan Baisarov and it was announced by Ramzan Kadyrov,” he said.

Baisarov owns major stakes in Russia’s top copper and coal companies and has promised to finance the development of a ski resort in Chechnya planned by the Chechen President.

Kadyrov, who has ruled the war-torn region since 2007 and was reappointed in the post earlier this year, has overseen several grandiose projects and events in Grozny aimed at boosting his political clout.

He has also encouraged the revival of Islam in the region, inaugurating in 2008 the “Heart of Chechnya” mosque, said to be the biggest in Europe.

But rights groups have long accused him of presiding over a personal militia that they say has carried out serial rights violations, torture and even murder.

Glittering Lines around the Blessed Chamber

Visitors of the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessing be Upon Him) cannot miss the inscriptions on the wall of his blessed Chamber. Reading those lines, one would be amazed to feel the emotion of that great soul whose expressions got inscribed there with golden letters.
On the other hand visitors are embarrassed to see the tampering of these inscriptions as well.  Many lines have been painted in a way that it makes them literally unreadable.  The ridiculous excuse was they did not suit to the new version of Monotheism. In other words those lines convey polytheism!. God Forbid!!!
What is more astonishing after all that those lines are still kept elevated to sanctum sanatorium and it is not a problem ! This very fact is more than enough to expose the hypocrisy of the so-called proponents of pseudo monotheism and the inconsistency of their arguments. If they really think of these lines speaking polytheistic what a disgrace  to keep them on the wall!!  If they don’t, what is the substance of covering up those beautiful and wonderful piece of an heartfelt expression?

In my recent visit to the blessed site, I snapped some pictures of the wall along with the door of the chamber where one of the most famous lines from Qaseeda Burda has been engraved.

[He is (Allah’s) most beloved, whose intercession is hoped for every fear that comes at once]

Here is the poem in full and   its English translation by G.F Haddad along with his introduction.

Poem of Tawassul and Praise
by Sh. G. F. Haddad

Sultan `Abd al-Hamid’s poem in praise of the Prophet upon him blessings and peace was engraved in the year 1191 (1777 C.E.) on the walls of the Prophet’s hujra in his mosque in Madina. The possessors of specious adab with the Prophet upon him blessings and peace covered up several of the verses with paint so that they could not be read, sparing what suited them, but the poem has been preserved in other ways. It can be found in the book of our late teacher Shaykh al-Islam fil-Balad al-Haram al-Sharif al-Shaykh Muhammad ibn `Alawi al-Maliki titled Shifa’ al-Fu’ad bi-Ziyarati Khayr al-`Ibad (Healing the heart with the visitation of the best of Allah’s servants) (Dubai: Da’irat al-awqaf, n.d.) p. 203. Here is the text in full, with an asterisk indicating each verse that was painted over.

1*

O my master, O Messenger of Allah, take my hand:
I have none besides you, nor will I pause to rely on anyone but you.

2*

For you are the light of guidance in everything that exists
and you are the secret of munificence and the best reliance.

3*

And you are in truth the helper of all creation,
and you are the guide of mortals to Allah, Owner of help.

4

O you who stand on the Station of Praise, singled out
by the One Who is Single, Who is not begotten and does not beget.

5

O you from whose fingers rivers burst forth
so that he quenched the thirst of the numerous army.

6*

Verily, if I am faced with harm and fearful injustice
I say: O Master of masters, O my support!

7*

Be my intercessor with the Merciful regarding my mistakes
and grace me with what eludes my heart.

8*

And look upon me always and ever with kind eyes,
and cover with your favor my shortcomings all my life.

9*

Kindly bestow on me encompassing forgiveness
for from you, O my master, I was never separated.

10*

I have sought as my means the elect one, the noblest of any
that ascended the heavens, the secret of the Unique One.

11

O Lord of beauty! Exalted is Allah Who created him,
for such as him in all creation I have never seen.

12

The best of creatures, the apex of Messengers,
the treasure of humankind and their guide to integrity!

13*

In him I have taken refuge: perhaps Allah will forgive me.
This is what I count on and firmly believe.

14

Therefore his tireless praise shall never cease to be my task
and love of him sustains me in the presence of the Lord of the Throne.

15

Upon him the purest of endless blessings without cease
together with greetings that cannot be stemmed nor counted

16

And upon his Family and Companions, a glorious folk all,
The ocean of forgiveness, the people of generosity and aid!

Celebration of the Ascension

What do you think of an appointment with the President? How is it if you were the only candidate selected from billions to meet His Excellency? Of course you can’t help celebrating the day.

It is really a different case! The holy prophet is being invited by Almighty Allah, the Creator and Sustainer of Everything. Nobody ever got this opportunity in the past and nobody can expect it in the future; unique for the Beloved messenger. It was a great day for the holy Prophet (PBUH) and is so for all those who love him.

Moreover, it seems that the Almighty Allah wanted to give an entertainment to the prophet and to show His love and care. While he was shrouded with a cloud of tribulations, in the Sad Year, the holy prophet was taken to a world tour exploring all worlds leading to the extreme experience of seeing the Divine. Thus lovers of the prophet have every reason to be excited and to celebrate this event. To mark the occasion fasting also is recommended by some scholars. (.

Provocative!

The incident was a provocation for disbelievers and a solid proof for believers. Today, it provokes modern science on many terms and proves the authenticity of the Holy Prophet’s Message. The most significant aspect of this eventful journey is the “The Relativity of Time” as it took only a few seconds to complete its all episodes. The Holy Quran has made it clear that the time we count is different from the time elsewhere.

Another significant aspect of the journey is its speed and its connection with the Light. The special vehicle is called Buraq a term derived from the root Light. Traditional sources say that its Leap during the Night Journey (ISRAA) was so far as its eye could reach, which is a clear reference to the speed of light.  Thanks to the advancement of modern science, now we all know that the process of seeing is a light driven mechanism

According to Dr. Zaghloul El-Naggar, based on the root form of the word, even the name Miaraj (Ascension) is a reference to the bended path of light rays. The Quran mentions the traffic of the angels who are created from light with the same term. (تعرج الملئكة والروح فيها) see his article in Arabic here. http://www.eajaz.org/arabic/?option=com_content&view=article&id=663&catid=79:21

Thus the ascension of the Beloved messenger gave a boost to the faithful of that time. Similarly its celebration will boost up the faith and conviction of the believers of all times.

May Allah Increase our faith and join us with the faithful Aameen .

Mentioning the Beloved By Alhabib Mohammad Alsaqqaf

Alhabib Mohammad Alsaqqaf in this episode of his “Raboeyat” reminds us of the impact of the name of the beloved peace be upon him on the muslims in the past and how they glorified him so much. Salla Allah Aleih Wassalam.

On Madeena Once Again

I would like to share yet another beautiful poetic expression on the city of the beloved Messenger.

Settle in Taybah for beneath its domes resides
The dearest, the healer of all sufferings of the minds.
If you weren’t pleased in the sweet city near the sweetie
By whom the world is pleasant, anywhere you could be?
At his neighbourhood, in case, calls are not answered,
Where does He answer the call, My Lord?
O’ the residents of Taybah, on each piece of its land,
You are dearly loved because of that Greatly Beloved.

Taybah, The Sweetest City on the Planet!

Ever since I returned from Madina Al Munawara two weeks ago , I’ve  tried to post on that sweet city. Despite plenty of pleasant memoirs and experiences, I feel really hard to express them! Madeena is a sensation and it triggers a great inflow of overwhelming emotions. What I can say simply now is that it is the sweetest of all the cities on the planet. I express my obligation to the great geniuses of the past who eternalized their evergreen expressions of prophetic love to be lip-synched by the less privileged lovers in the future.

Previously I have written in my post on Qaseedah Burdah of Imam Al Busiri: “Can we pen down a single line, worthier or dearer than those sacred lines, even if we spend all of our life span?? Never! O’ Imam Al Busiri!!, May Allah reward you with the best of rewards. May Allah join us with our Beloved Master. Ameen”

Here is one of the most famous songs on Madina recently presented by renowned Quran reciter and popular Kuwaiti Singer Mashary Al Afasy followed by Its lyrics and translation.

O Tayba,
O Tayba, O Tayba,
O cure of the helpless
we missed you,
and the passion has called us
As the ship departed, it forgot me
they sailed away and my tears never dried up
they took my heart and my soul with them
O Tayba, you’re love of the bewildered
you’re love of the bewildered
My direction of prayer is the house of Allah,
I’m patient perhaps
a day will come to visit you
I wonder, Will I be looking upon Kaaba
and being overwhelmed with its safety..
Our prophet, the dearest of my ambitions
is to visit u,At least once in my life
and next to you, to perform my prayers
to praise my Lord, and to recite Qur’an
and to recite Qur’an
O Madina, How lucky you are
for the coming of the Guiding Star
May I take a refuge in your shelter
I wish, the light has enchanted us
your light has enchanted us

Some extremists Like so called “Salafi” Mufti Obaid al Jabiri raised voice against this extremely popular song saying it is polytheistic to call O Tybah and to seek cure from it. In fact it is a reference for Love. Also they cannot digest the poet’s “dearest” ambition to visit the Prophet as well as  to pray and recite Quran beside His sacred tomb. All these stand against the so called Salafist ideology which is abandoned by the mainstream, the lion share of, Islamic scholars.

Welcome to the Spring of Soul

With his charming touch famous singer Mr. Yusuf Islam renders these lines as below:
O’ the White Moon rose over us,
from the valley of Wada’
and we owe it to show gratefulness
where the call is to Allah.
O you who were raised amongst us
coming with a work to be obeyed
You have brought to this city nobleness
Welcome, best caller to God’s way

Title: Ta’ala al Badru Alayna ,Album: The Life of the Last Prophet ,Artist: Yusuf Islam

Since the outset of Rabeeu the Muslim world prepares to celebrate the birth of its beloved Messenger, The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Some ill-fated fellows have been deprived off the glory of this Season. But they are terribly few.  Compare the maps below to see the popularity and wide acceptance of the Celebration across the globe.

It is noteworthy that many non-Islāmic countries like India and Philippines join with Islamic countries marking Meelad Day as Holiday. Other than some new central Asian republics of old USSR, the only visible exception on this map is kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Qatar where, as in other secular countries celebrations are in full swing but without Governmental promotion. You can easily follow it with a simple search on internet. What happened in KSA after the bloody and violent invasion of Najdians in Hejaz is well-known. For centuries, Hejaz was in the forefront of celebration and in particular, the special event was held at the Prophet’s Birth Place on Meelad Day- See Mawlid at The Birth Place

It is a time to listen to and to speak of the marvellous personality of the holy Prophet as well as to renew the commitment to follow His way of life. A time to come closer to His great self and to His Lord, the Almighty Allah. Youngsters get introduced and elders get reminded of the humanity’s obligation towards its Saviour. We need to set up personal relationship with him and to be close to him all the time.

Just to share the video of the event that I mentioned in the previous post. The Original video that belongs to Badar Publication, Kozhikkode, India  has been edited and I have added English subtitles. Thanks for watching!

The Most Prestigious Custody

It was really amazing. Millions stood witnessing it and a great number of people watched it live. One of the greatest moments of our time! Shaikh Ahmad Al Khazraji , son of former Minister of Islamic Affairs and Religious Endowments in the United Arab Emirates Shaikh Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Khazraji declaring that he would hand over the most honoured custodianship of one of the Holy Hairs of the Beloved Messenger to Shaikh Aboobacker Ahmad Musliar – A charismatic leader and renowned scholar from India . Al-Khazraji’ s assistant read out the entire lineage of that honour since it was first received by the companion of the Beloved Messenger. As we all know that the khazrajee is one of the two tribes of Ansar (Supporters) who had invited the Holy Prophet to Medina and undertaken His afety and support before migration .  They have been holding this prestigious custody for centuries.

An incredible moment it was. I’ve watched it breathtakingly, wondering why Shaikh Al Khazraji wants to do it. The answer came instantly from the dais that it was at the behest of the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessing be upon Him). Oh’ God! We saw tears bursting out and ecstatic chanting from the spectators. “Allahu Akbar!!!”. All were overwhelmed to see the greatness of Shaik Aboobacker Ahmad (May Allah Prolong His Life).

The auspicious event  was at Calicut, a historic city of southern India, on the occasion of the 15th convocation and 33rd anniversary of  Markaz  Saqaafath Sunniyya.  (Website Link) It was inaugurated by Dr. Ali Jumua , The Grand Mufti of Egypt in the Presence of Dr. Omar Abdulla Kamil from KSA and other national and international dignitaries. It was announced that on Monday 7th February  2011 the public will get access to see the sacred hair.
May Almighty Allah join us all In His Haven in the company of Our Beloved Messenger, The Prophet Muhammad (SAWS).

Just to share with you this beautiful Yemeni song in praising the beloved messenger. To add  to your enjoyment, see the lyric and its translation at the end.

May Allah Bless the Moon of Perfection, a thousand times

Who lived  in the Sweet City and reached the peak of Excellence

Who inspired Hope in the night of the lost

His  light clears  up the terrors of the night

My Master would  not pronounce out of caprice, a word

His word was revealed  to him by His Majesty, the Lord

It is he who presented to the Time, his lovely gifts

And guided the people towards  beautiful values

Must is to love him  and Love is not claiming

But a way towards commitment and following .

oh visitor,  give my salutation to the Chosen

Peace and Blessings upon You, My Master and Allah’s Messenger!

Ramadan Message from The Beloved Messenger

On the Eve of Ramadan, the beloved messenger delivered an extremely significant and concise speech to His Companions. It provides instructional models to Muslims to be followed and to be practiced in their daily lives; especially during the month of Ramadan. Here is the hadith followed by its translation:

O you people! A great and a blessed month has arrived for you. A month therein a night which is better than one thousand months. The fasting during this month is an obligation (Fareedah), and the extra prayers during its nights are voluntary. Anyone who comes closer to Allah through a good deed during this month is as if he performed an obligatory duty (Fareedah) during times other than Ramadan, and he who fulfils an obligatory duty in it will be like one who fulfils seventy obligatory duties in another month. It is the month of patience, and, the reward of patience is Paradise. It is the month of visiting the poor, the sick and the needy so as to share their sorrows. It is the month where the nourishment, the sustenance and the income of the believing Muslim increase and they are blessed.”

“Anyone who invites others to break their fast at Iftar will be provided with forgiveness of his sins and be saved from hell, and will receive reward equal to the fasting person without reducing his own reward in any respect.”

Some of the followers of the Prophet (S) said: “Not all of us may find food to share with one so that he could break his fast.” The Prophet (S) said: “Allah will reward you even if you help the fasting Muslim to break his fast with a date, a sip of water, or a drink of milk . . . it is a month: its beginning is Mercy (Rahmah), and its middle part is Forgiveness (Maghfirah) and its last part is freedom from hellfire. Anyone who helps a slave to be freed, Allah will forgive him and free him from Hell. Increase in yourselves four things: two by which you will please your Lord, and two others by which you cannot live without.

The first two qualities to please Allah are to bear witness that there is no one worthy of worship except Allah, and to ask forgiveness from Allah. However, the other two things that you cannot live without are: to ask Allah for Paradise, and to ask Him to protect you from Hellfire.

Anyone who feeds a Muslim at Iftar to his satisfaction, Allah will give him water during the Day of Judgment from My fountain which will make him not feel thirsty until he enters Paradise.”

A Mosque at Ground Zero?

Major two broadcasters in the US i.e. CBS and NBC refused to air the notorious hate ad which is based on zero ground against the so called ‘mosque at ground zero’!

Do we Muslims need a mosque at Ground Zero? I personally feel No, if the people out there are not comfortable with it. We can build mosque anywhere but without compromising the feelings of our neighbors! We need peace and tranquility for all. That is what this great religion is all about.

At the time of  Hudaibiyya treaty the Beloved Messenger set a sublime model for dealing with the people who are not aligned with our ideology. Almost every article of the pact prima facie went against Muslims and they had to suffer greatly to cope with. The prophet and His followers showed unmatched tolerance for the sake of Peace.

Islamic History portraits the Great Caliph Umar (May Allah Bless him) declining to perform his prayers inside the church despite his Christian counterpart’s insistence just because that public might take it wrongly and cost peace sometime in the future!

But what Muslims would like to erect there at ground zero is a suitable memorial in honor of 3000 innocent victims of 9/11 attack. 13 story building named as Cordoba House is said to be having public facilities for athletics, arts, performances, lectures series, forums and weddings, as well as a prayer space which makes opponents frown at! It is said that “The Islamic center is supported by most politicians in Manhattan and by religious leaders of many faiths. It has the support of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, now the state’s Democratic gubernatorial candidate”. See here what the Mayor has said on the issue. http://sify.com/news/new-york-mayor-defends-proposed-ground-zero-mosque-news-international-kf4u4ddaiic.html

With all its political and moral support, we need to maintain that it should not cause any irk to the people of the area and we hold high that No Compromise on Comprehensive Peace. Peace be upon You!

Burdah (The Cloak): World’s Most Popular Single Poem

Poem of the CloakI personally feel overwhelmingly obliged to the Great Lover Imam Sharafudheen Muhammed Al Busiri for providing me his marvelous words in praising our Beloved Messenger (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). I can never pay off his charity of that single day when I was  reading those piercing lines of sublime love in the vicinity of the most sacred place in the universe, i.e. in front of our Master, the Messenger Of Allah(Peace and Blessings be upon Him). Can we pen down a single line, worthier or dearer than those sacred lines, even if we spend all of our life span?? Never! O’ Great Imam Al Busiri!!, May Allah reward you with the best of rewards. May Allah join us with our Beloved Master. Ameen

I would like here to quote  a famous western Islamic scholar Mr. Timothy J. Winter (Abdal Hakim Murad),Cambridge University, UK , as he says “what we are dealing with is very probably the most influential and the most popular single poem in the history of any language. There simply is no other text from ancient or recent times that has been done in so many languages, not just for some rarefied literary elite but for the people…”

It has been recited all over the Muslim world for centuries and get carved on mosques even in the Holy Mosque of the Prophet(Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) in Medina.
Here is an introduction for “The Burda” Sung by Fez Singers of Morocco and released  by Sandala Filims in the United States, with the translation of  noted American scholar Sheikh  Hamza Yusuf ; A documentary really   worthy to watch !

Another passage on the poem reads “Qasida Burdah as a poem has had a unique history. Even in the poet’s lifetime it was already regarded as sacred. Over 90 commentaries have been written on this poem by many of the foremost scholars and imams of Islam, including Ibn Hajar, Mulla Ali al-Qari, Ibn Allan, Bajuri, and others. It has been translated into Persian, Urdu, Turkish, Berber, Punjabi, English, French, German, Sindhi, Dutch and other languages. The poem is memorized and recited in congregations, and its verses decorate the walls of public buildings and mosques. From coasts of Senegal to the Philippines, from Russia to South Africa, everywhere Qasida Burdah is recited as a token of love for the Prophet and to ask for blessings.”

Mean while we see people who cannot enjoy the beauty of the poem dare labeling it UnIslamic. What a Pity! We can’t but feel sympathy and pray for them to recover from their hapless state.

Signs of the End Times – War and Terror

If you go through the Chapter of ‘Afflictions’ (الفتن)in the Sahih al Bukhari you would see astonishing prophecies that the beloved Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم had made on the contemporary world! Actually the beloved was speaking about the signs of the last day. Please see some of them here.

The Prophet said, “Near the establishment of the Hour there will be days during which (religious) knowledge will be taken away (vanish) and general ignorance will spread, and there will be Al-Harj in abundance, and Al-Harj means killing.”

The Prophet said, “Time will pass rapidly, good deeds will decrease, miserliness will be thrown (in the hearts of the people) afflictions will appear and there will be much ‘Al-Harj.” They said, “O Allah’s Apostle! What is “Al-Harj?” He said, “Killing! Killing!”

What is really amazing is that the special word used by the messenger which was hitherto unknown to His companions, obviously to stress the graveness of the large scale killings occurring on those days. we can easily see the drastic increase in the casualties of wars and other atrocities in recent times. Due to the damned weapons of mass destruction that some countries possess in addition to the atrocities of the armed terrorist, the world is no longer a better place to live in. This very fact too is already mentioned by the holy prophet in another hadith in Sahih Bukhari !. The Prophet said:

The Hour will not be established till a man when passing by a grave of someone will say, ‘Would that I were in his place!”

Another major sign that the Beloved prophet mentions is the widespread ignorance of the Religion. Now we see the ignorance reached to a position where the same religion is used to kill innocent people and to destroy cities. Things the prophet has strictly warned about. Also We hear those people ordering to give up authentic scholarly schools and to follow ignorant pretenders who distinct themselves from the blessed tradition of Islamic scholarship.

May Allah Save us from all afflictions! Please say Aameen!

Islam Vs Terrorism

According to BBC News Today, one of the the influential Sufi scholars of UK  Dr Tahir ul-Qadri  has issued a global ruling against terrorism and suicide bombing. It a 600-page judgement, known as a fatwa, completely dismantles al-Qaeda’s violent ideology.”  See the full report below:

Islamic scholar Tahir ul-Qadri to issue terrorism fatwa

Hearts and minds: Communities divided over how to tackle extremists

An influential Muslim scholar is to issue in London a global ruling against terrorism and suicide bombing.

Dr Tahir ul-Qadri, from Pakistan, says his 600-page judgement, known as a fatwa, completely dismantles al-Qaeda’s violent ideology.

The scholar describes al-Qaeda as an “old evil with a new name” which has not been sufficiently challenged.

The scholar’s movement is growing in the UK and has attracted the interest of policymakers and security chiefs.

In his religious ruling, Dr Qadri says that Islam forbids the massacre of innocent citizens and suicide bombings.

Although many scholars have made similar rulings in the past, Dr Qadri’s followers argue that the massive document being launched in London goes much further.

Extremist groups based in Britain recruit the youth by brainwashing them that they will be rewarded in the next life

Shahid Mursaleen

They say it sets out point-by-point theological arguments against the rhetoric used by al-Qaeda inspired recruiters.

The fatwa also challenges the religious motivations of would-be suicide bombers who are inspired by promises of an afterlife.

The populist scholar developed his document last year as a response to the increase in bombings across Pakistan by militants.

The basic text has been extended to 600 pages to cover global issues, in an attempt to get its theological arguments taken up by Muslims in western nations. It will be promoted in the UK by Dr Qadri’s organisation, Minhaj ul-Quran International.

Shahid Mursaleen, spokesman for Minhaj-ul-Quran in the UK, said the fatwa was hard-hitting.

“This fatwa injects doubt into the minds of potential suicide bombers,” he said.

“Extremist groups based in Britain recruit the youth by brainwashing them that they will ‘with certainty’ be rewarded in the next life.

“Dr Qadri’s fatwa has removed this key intellectual factor from their minds.”

Religious rulings

The document is not the first to condemn terrorism and suicide bombing to be launched in the UK.

MINHAJ UL-QURAN
Islamic organisation from the Sufi tradition
Active in 70 countries
5,000 members in UK

Scholars from across the UK came together in the wake of the 7 July London attacks to denounce the bombers and urge communities to root out extremists.

But some scholarly rulings in the Middle East have argued that the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians is an exceptional situation where “martyrdom” attacks can be justified.

Although Dr Qadri has a large following in Pakistan, Minhaj ul-Quran International remained largely unknown in the UK until relatively recently.

It now has 10 mosques in the British cities with significant Muslim communities and says it is targeting younger generations it believes have been let down by traditional leaders.

The organisation is attracting the attention of policymakers and security chiefs who are continuing to look for allies in the fight against extremists.

The Department for Communities, which runs most of the government’s “Preventing Violent Extremism” strategy, has tried building bridges with a variety of liberal-minded groups, but often found that they have limited actual influence at the grassroots.

The Most Blessed Hair!

I Quote:

It is narrated by Bukhari in his Sahih in the Book of Clothes, under the chapter “What is mentioned about gray hair”, that Usman bin ‘Abdullah bin Mawhab (r) said, “my family sent me to Ummu Salamah (r) with a cup of water. And Ummu Salamah (r) brought out a silver bottle which contained one of the hairs of the Prophet (s), and it used to be that if anyone came under the evil eye or ill health they used to send her a cup of water through she would pass this hair [for drinking] and we used to look into the silver bottle: I saw some reddish hairs.”
Imam Hafiz ibn Hajar in Fath al-Baari, Volume 10, page 353, said, “they used to call the silver bottle in which the hair of the Prophet (s) was kept ‘jiljalan’ and that bottle was in the home of Ummu Salamah (r).”

Imam al-‘Ayni said, “Ummu Salamah (r) had some of the hairs of the Prophet (s) in a silver bottle, and when some people got ill, they used to go and obtain blessings from these hairs and they would be healed by means of its blessings. They used to take the hair of the Prophet (s) and they used to pass it through a cup of water and they would immediately be healed. And this explanation of the hadith is mentioned in Bukhari.”

It is said in ‘umdat il-Qari, a section in Sharh Sahih al-Bukhari, volume 18, page 79, “If a person were struck by the evil eye or by any sickness, he would send his wife to Ummu Salamah (r) with a mikhdabba [i.e. cup of water] and she used to pass the hair through that water and then he would drink the water and he would be healed, after which they would return the hair to the ‘jiljal.'”
Muslim narrated in his Sahih that Anas (r) related, “The Prophet (s) came to Mina and threw stones and then he came to his tent in Mina after he made the sacrifice, and he told the barber ‘take my hair’ and he pointed first to his right, then to his left. Then he began to distribute the hair to the Sahaba.”

According to Muslim, in the same hadith, according to another narration by Hafs (r), “the Prophet (s) when he shaved his right side, began to distribute either one hair or two hairs to every Sahabi, then he did the same with the hairs from the left side.”
In Musnad, Imam Ahmad said, transmitted by Anas (r), “when the Prophet (s) shaved his head in Mina, he gave me the hair of the right side and he said, ‘O Anas! take it to Ummu Salim.’ When the Sahaba saw what the Prophet (s) gave us, they began to compete to take the hair from the left side, and everyone was getting a share from that.”

Imam Ahmad in his Musnad said, “from Ibn Sireen from Ubaydah Salmani that he said, ‘O Allah! If only I would have a hair of the Prophet (s) which I could keep with me: that would be more precious to me than the white and the yellow and everything that is on the earth and what is inside it.'”

In ‘Umdat il-Qari, a section of Sharh Sahih al-Bukhari, “Khalid bin Waleed used to keep in his clothes some hairs of the Prophet (s) and for that reason he was always victorious.”

It is said in the same volume of the same book, “Khalid bin Waleed asked Abu Talhah to give him from the hair of the Prophet (s) when the Prophet (s) distributed his hair among the Sahaba. And he asked to give him from the front side of the head. And Abu Talhah gave him from the front side. And that is the reason he was always in the front.”

There are many other hadith on this subject, such that it is impossible to mention them all here. May Allah give us the blessing of the Prophet (s) his family and his Sahaba.
